Art for the planet's sake

Greens leader Bob Brown attending and donating work to Brisbane Art Auction in February 09
Green leader Bob Brown will not only be the special guest at the Queensland Greens art auction on 21st February 2009 -  he will also be donating one of his own nature photographs for the event.

Bob has exhibited many of his photos and they are in high demand.

Other Brisbane artists will be donating pieces which will be exhibited at the Blue Dragonfly (Art Theatre Music) on the top floor, 99 Elizabeth Street, City on 20-22 February.  The auction is called “Art – Caring for the Planet” and will feature environmental themes.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the Queensland Greens state election campaign, expected some time in the early part of 2009.

The Greens, who are at historic highs in opinion polls, are hoping to get their single parliamentarian, Ronan Lee, re-elected in Indooroopilly as well as seeing several others joining him in the parliament.

“This is a crucial time for Queensland politics and a Green presence in parliament is essential for turning around some of the anti-environmental directions Queensland governments have taken over the last few decades,” Mr Lee said.
